If you need help with a common illness, you don’t always need to wait for a GP appointment. Our Nurse Prescribers are trained and authorised to assess and treat a wide range of everyday conditions – and you can book them directly through the Local Health App.

What can a Nurse Prescriber help with?
If you’re dealing with a common, uncomplicated illness, a Nurse Prescriber is a great option:

• Coughs, colds and uncomplicated respiratory infections
• Sore throats
• Sinusitis
• Ear infections
• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs)
• Conjunctivitis
• Mild skin infections, impetigo and uncomplicated cellulitis
• Fungal infections
• Scabies and head lice
• Eczema and dermatitis
• Uncomplicated gastrointestinal conditions, including constipation and nausea/vomiting
• Fever
• Minor wounds and skin conditions
• Minor injuries
• Appropriate pain management

How to book
Booking is quick and easy through the Local Health App. Simply select a Nurse Prescriber appointment when booking for yourself or your whānau.
